German Views - The Janus Face

If one observes the rebellion of the populace in the Islamic world, beginning in Tunisia and reaching now also Egypt and the Yemens, it is impossible not to feel reminded the process of 1989 in Europe. And it is difficult not to sympathize with the rebellious, especially if one knows the regimes against which the uprising is directed.

Nevertheless, I confess that I do not see this process without uneasiness, and although I don't feel competent to analyze the current state of the domestic policies of Egypt or even Tunisia or the Yemen – a few sceptical comments:
